We were on a 3-year sabbatical since the middle of 2018. In the last few months, we have been slowly restoring our red building in Sennett Estate back to its former glory. We have added some little touches both inside and outside. Due to the COVID-19 situation progress has been slow but Joan Bowen is now ready to welcome you back!
What have we been up to in the last 3 years? Joan had new experiences, learnt new skills and made new friends; She has participated in local and overseas marathon events, climbed hills in Korea and Europe, and went on pilgrimages in Europe and the Holy Land. We are ever grateful to all who befriended, coached and encouraged Joan.
She has also attended culinary classes during this time and has interned with a few local F&B outlets.

Joan Bowen now serves a variety of Western Cafe and Italian inspired dishes. We also serve freshly baked breads.

Our opening hours are:
Tuesdays – Saturdays : 11.30 am – 2.30 pm
Thursdays – Saturdays : 6 pm – 9.30 pm
We can organize private dinners from Tuesdays to Saturdays.
Closed on Sundays, Mondays and Public Holidays.

It is our vision to build a community where the special needs can gather, participate, enjoy and excel in activities like everyone else. We hope that Joan Bowen Cafe can be one of the gathering places for the Sennett Estate community as well as for other social clubs, and through this affinity the special needs can be included in some of the social activities.
Riddle me something – what’s better than working from home? Being top bread in a sandwich of snug and compassion I reckon! Imagine the foundational aspiration and endeavour of a cafe operated with and by individuals who take time and heart to make your meals from scratch; with next the succulent middle of a padded space for safe, good conversations alongside memorable hijinks; and then a comfy retiring to bed after a positively brilliant day.
